Our Approach

Relationship first, evidence always. Here's how we work, and what you can expect from your first call to a plan that fits.

How we think

We start with the person, not the behaviour.

We start by asking what someone needs to live a better life. Then we work with them and the people around them to build a plan, with clear strategies and steps to get there.

We don't stop at what a behaviour does for someone. We want to understand why it's needed in the first place, and what in the person's life, health, environment or relationships is contributing to that why.

We balance safety with dignity of risk. Everyone deserves choice, control and the chance to try new things. We work with everyone involved so behaviours that cause harm happen less often, for less time and with less intensity, and people feel safe to enjoy their life fully.

Where restrictive practices are in place, we work to reduce and remove them safely, so the person gets back more choice and freedom, while staying safe.

What this means for you

Support that works for everyone in the room

For the person

Support built around who they are and who they're becoming. We listen to what matters to them, respect their choices, and work toward a life that feels more like their own.

For families and carers

Plain words, honest conversations, and a practitioner who sees you as family first. You know your person best, and you're a key part of making the plan work.

For support teams

We want to work with you, not around you. You're the ones putting strategies into practice every day, so we build them together and back you with training and check-ins.

What to expect

From first call to a plan that fits

STEP 1

Reach out

Send a referral or an enquiry. Jackie or one of our practitioners will call you back, talk through what's happening and check funding.

STEP 2

Get to know you

We meet the person and the people around them. We listen, observe and gather information, and keep checking in as we learn.

STEP 3

Shape the support together

From what we've learned, we work out the right support. That could be direct work with the person, a support plan, or a Behaviour Support Plan where restrictive practices are involved, shaped with the person and their team so it fits real life.

STEP 4

Train and support

We show families and support teams how to use the plan, face to face or online, and make practical resources to go with it, so everyone can use it with confidence.

Then we keep going

A plan should grow with the person. We come back to it together, let go of what's no longer needed, and add goals that reflect who they're becoming.
